Ted Gournelos has his MFA in Sculpture and his PhD in Communication from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, as well as his MBA from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College. His research is in two lines: how media engages contemporary politics and social norms, and how business communication can further social change. His first book, the 2009 Popular Culture and the Future of Politics, used South Park as its primary case study and charted various ways in which media can intervene in political discourse. His most recent book, the 2019 Doing Academic Research, is a practical field guide to the methods and analysis common in the humanities, social sciences, and business fields.
