Brett Siegel is an assistant instructor and PhD student in Media Studies in the Department of Radio-Television-Film at the University of Texas-Austin Moody College of Communication. He received his MA in Critical Studies from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts and his MLIS from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Information Studies. His research focuses on the intersections of power, ideology, and identity in sports and sports media, and specifically the strategies of brand management and crisis containment deployed by professional sports organizations and their media partners. Brett has served as a member of the Radio-Television-Film Graduate Student Organization, a column editor for the online Flow journal, a reader for The Velvet Light Trap journal, and an organizer for Flow conference at UT-Austin, and he has published book reviews in Spectator and The Journal of Popular Culture.
