Beste Atvur is a Ph.D. Candidate in Film Studies at Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Her research interests include film / media studies, critical political economy, migration studies, and transnational cinema. She received her MA degree from City University of New York and completed her Masters’ Thesis titled “The Use of Music in Fatih Akın’s Films in Relation to the Issue of Migration”. She is currently writing her Ph.D. dissertation, a comparative analysis of Turkish & German cinema on the representations of Turkish Guestworkers in film & TV. She is the Research Assistant for an academic project on Turkish Media.
