With an instructional and professional background in digital design, visual communication, and aesthetic criticism, I am currently a Ph.D. candidate at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, focusing in Rhetoric and New Media Technology. My dissertation work examines the epistemological, axiological, and ontological rhetorical issues that arise between aesthetics and authenticity in immersive simulation environments. My research interests are in visual/digital rhetoric, new media, cultural studies, and material semiotic networks. Additional research involves the intersection of embodiment, feminist rhetorical agencies, and media production, circulation, and consumption. I also served as coordinating editor of MediaCommons' Field Guide from 2017-2019.
