Amber Hardiman is a current PhD student in the department of Film, Television, & Media at the
University of Michigan. Her doctoral research examines coverage of televised rape trials on
mainstream news, their recreation into commercial forms of 'infotainment,' and the racialized
underpinnings of the news media's selection of certain trials as particularly 'newsworthy' over
others. Prior to pursuing her PhD at the University of Michigan, Amber completed her master’s
degree in the Department of English at McGill University.
