Hunter Vaughan is Assistant Professor of Cinema Studies at Oakland University. His first book, Where Film Meets Philosophy: Godard, Resnais, and Experiments in Cinematic Thinking (New York: Columbia University Press, 2013), attempts to re-frame the early weeks of France’s iconic counter-cinema directors within a larger study of French philosophy and the potential of film form to carve new modes of understanding and engaging with the world. His interests include film theory and philosophy, identity politics in media, French cinema, and film and the environment.
