Curran Nault is a PhD in Radio-Television-Film from the University of Texas at Austin (UT). His dissertation was a comprehensive analysis of queercore, an anti-normative queer punk subculture situated in pointed opposition to the homophobia of mainline punk and the lifeless sexual politics of the the gay and lesbian mainstream, and instigated by misfit artists Bruce LaBruce and GB Jones. His scholarship has been published in THE NEOAMERICANIST, JUMP CUT, FEMINIST MEDIA STUDIES and the anthology QUEER LOVE IN FILM AND TELEVISION. In addition to his academic work, Curran is the Artistic Director and Board President of OUTsider, the first multi-arts LGBT festival and conference in the United States. Previously he was the Artistic Director of Polari: The Austin Gay and Lesbian International Film Festival and the Director of Programming for the Austin Asian American Film Festival (AAAFF). Curran also occasionally dabbles in film production and was the Associate Producer of PJ Raval's documentary BEFORE YOU KNOW IT (SXSW 2013 Premiere) and a performer in a segment of Kyle Henry's FOURPLAY (Cannes 2012 Premiere).
