Elissa H. Nelson is an Assistant Professor in the Communication Arts and Sciences Department at Bronx Community College, City University of New York and is also on the faculty of the School of Film and Media Studies at Purchase College, State University of New York. She has published work on 1980s Hollywood, digital distribution, and teen films, and her current research focuses on the media industries, genre studies, soundtracks, and representations of youth. Her book, The Breakfast Club: Youth Identity and Generational Conflict in the Golden Age of the Teen Film, part of the series Cinema and Youth Cultures, is forthcoming from Routledge.
