Krisztina Rozgonyi, Ph.D, JD, MBA is Assistant Professor and Postdoctoral Research Assistant at the Department of Communication of the University of Vienna. Dr. Rozgonyi also acts as senior regulatory and legal/policy adviser. Her research interests are focusing on specific aspects of media governance, especially on the governance of spectrum and of copyright, and on the representation of public interest, of democratic values and of fundamental rights within the complex and highly 'technocratized' policy and regulatory processes.
She holds a Ph.D in Communications (Universität Wien); Doctor Juris in Law and State Sciences (Eötvös Lóránd University, Faculty of Law, Budapest); an MA in Communication Sciences (Eötvös Lóránd University, Faculty of Liberal Arts, Budapest); and an MBA (Central European University).
Dr. Rozgonyi has served as a senior regulator and policy/legal adviser for national governments, regulators, and companies. In the period 2004-2010 she served as the Chairperson of the Telecoms Authority in Hungary. She acts as ITU/UN, Council of Europe, World Bank InfoDev and BBC MA policy and legal/regulatory expert and engages in major European Commission initiatives as adviser on media freedom, spectrum policy and copyright legal frameworks re: digital audiovisual archives.
She has taught at ELTE University, Budapest; Janus Pannonius University, Faculty of Law, Department of Public Law, Pécs, and is a regular speaker at the Annenberg-Oxford Media Policy Summer Institute at Oxford University. Dr. Rozgonyi is member of the advisory board of the International Journal of Digital Television and the chair of the Media and Advertising Division of the Hungarian Lawyers Association.
