Sara is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology and Communications at Brunel University London. Her research interests are in gender, class, austerity and popular culture. Sara is currently working on a new research project, The 'Period Poverty' Project. She is also the Co-Chair (with Laura Clancy) of the Feminist and Women's Studies Association (UK and Ireland). Sara has worked on a number of funded research projects about birth, motherhood and popular culture and she has taught on media studies, cultural studies and sociology courses at various universities at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the UK, such as City University London, King’s College London and the London School of Economic and Political Sciences. Before entering academia, Sara worked as a research associate for charities in the women’s sector.
