I am a Lecturer in Film Studies at Seattle University and the author of several works on cinema history. Currently, I am completing my second book, Movie-Made Los Angeles, which looks at how visual culture in Southern California — from 1870 to 1920 — fueled the creation of Los Angeles as the home of the American motion picture industry.
Originally from Southern California, I received my PhD from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
