Bethany Nowviskie edits the #Alt-Academy site here at MediaCommons, and is President of the Association for Computers and the Humanities. At the University of Virginia Library, she works as Director of Digital Research & Scholarship, a department which includes the Scholars’ Lab and UVa Library's Praxis Program, among other initiatives. She is also Associate Director of the Scholarly Communication Institute. Nowviskie's doctorate is in English Language and Literature from the University of Virginia and she has been active as a designer and leader of digital humanities projects since the mid-1990s. Among these are the Rossetti Archive, Temporal Modelling, the Ivanhoe Game, Juxta, NINES, and Neatline. Nowviskie presently serves as a steering committee member for ADHO (the Alliance of Digital Humanities Organizations) and centerNet, and as chair of the MLA‘s Committee on Information Technology.
