Elizabeth Lundberg responded to the March 2013 MC survey that asks scholars where they see the digital divide in their work and/or scholarship. In "Moderating Lolita," she talks about the challenges of moderating online class discussions that deal with "uncomfortable, controversial, political, and potentially deeply personal" topics. In a thoughtful concluding statement, she says, "Thinking about the implications of digital pedagogy practices for teaching, and asking how we can retain ethical and conscious embodiment in a disembodied medium, I don’t know if I’m any closer to clear answers after my experience with this blog."
We're wondering if instructors have developed any new strategies for addressing these kinds of concerns or come to any new insights.
